Why We Blog

A blog I recently started following is challenging other bloggers to blog why they blog. (Wow, what a sentence.) I think this one picture explains 'Why We Blog' for me. Looking at this picture I see many different views. The first being I am so blessed to have a family that can wear all of these jeans. I do a lot of laundry, but I'm so thankful to have so many healthy, run around wild, put holes in these jeans~kind of boys. Who could ask for anything more? I feel blogging makes you more thankful for what you do have. You reflect on what you have and things that happen through out your life and share them with others.

Another reason is the ups and downs of life. Look how these jeans are hung. They go up and down. Our lives are that way at times and this blog shares life with other people. Fellowship via Internet. The good Lord wants us to fellowship with each other, love each other and encourage each other.

When I glance at this picture I also see different seasons of life that we are all in. Some are in a season of life to teach others where they have already been. Some are in a season to encourage others while they are in the same place. Sometimes, just knowing that other people have some of the same circumstances is enough to get you through a season of life. It's so easy to get into a pity party, "if only this or that......" We've all been there plenty of times.

Yet another thought is......sometimes you feel the grass is greener on the other side. But, this picture shows that it is just as green on one as the other. Look at what you have and just be grateful. I always tell my kids, a thankful heart is a happy heart. You have a choice everyday with what you do with your attitude. Life is about perspectives and priorities. Blogging helps me to reflect on good/bad times that I can share or what God has placed on my heart to share with others. That one person reading might need to hear those very words that God lead me to type.

Being a 'blogger' sometimes reveals my heart, which is hard for me to do. (grammar has never been my best friend) Blogging means being real. Have you ever wondered why you can't get enough of other peoples blogs' sometimes? I think people crave realism. They want truth. Reading someone else's blog is like reading their heart. That is being real. God wants us to know His heart and to know that His love is real. So, reading the Bible would then possibly be like reading His blog, right? :o)

Well, I guess that is why I blog. I love sharing things about my family also. It's a way for my family and friends to keep up with us. Which is hard enough for me to do sometimes! :o)

Chick update

Here are some of the baby chicks that grew too big for the tractor tire we grew them in. They kept flying up on the edge and getting out. The boys rotate doing chicken chores, calf chores and feeding the dog. Lucky Grady doesn't help~except when he decides to let ALL of the babies out and they run in the yard. Hopefully that won't happen again!!
These are the smaller ones that are still in the tractor tire (inside out) with the heat lamp. These are the ones that kept getting trampled for the bigger ones just walked right over them to get to the food and water. We had to separate them after a few days with a 2x6 for a divider. For those who might have wondered, they were only in the box for a day~we bought them at night and made their pin the next morning.....:o)

The Whopper

We went fishing yesterday in the rain and cold breeze. Wylie was the only one to catch a fish. (Colton got one, but it took his worm and his hook) And I might add, it's the only fish our family has ever caught that was worth bringing home! He was so excited.

I've never been fishing wearing my heavy coat before. Hope to never again too. We had told the boys we would take them and then it started to sprinkle then shower on us. They didn't care about the weather. They just wanted to go fishing! But, it was good family time!

We've worked a lot of cattle this last week, in the mud. Grady has had fun running around in the pins. Apparently, this time he didn't fare so well. He was mad and it was waaaay past nap time. He looked like he had huge boots on and gloves made of mud. He cried and cried, for he wanted to "take a bath tub". (That's what he calls taking a bath.)

Here are our baby chicks that we got a few weeks ago. I think there were 86 to start with. Several have been trampled. My husband is planning on butchering chickens sometime this summer. I think, no I'm pretty sure that I'm working that day! I don't mind working cattle or swathing hay. But, you got to draw the line somewhere, right?
Levi celebrated his 9th b-day on the 20th of April. His b-day present was a gash on his head with one stitch. He was in PE class and somehow fell on the play equipment. The funny part was, he had begged Colton to wear his FB jersey to school that day. Colton finally gave in and let him wear it. It came home with a lot of blood on it. We had to soak it before Colton got home so he wouldn't see it looking that bad. It cleaned up very nice. Good ole Oxiclean to the rescue.
