Harvest

Colton is driving the grain wagon. His cousin Bailen came
out this year to help also and is with him.

Future Farmers of America! Wylie and Levi hang
out while the real farmers prepare for cutting.

Getting ready to cut for the day with our OOOLLLDDD
combine. But, hey it's paid for and usually works! :o)

Corey sleeping???? No, the trailer brakes never want to
work like they're suppose to. It's really hot under there too.

This was one of the most beautiful sunsets I had seen in awhile. My camera didn't catch the true colors that were actually there. We are getting closer to being done, but still have several days of cutting left. Hoping to miss the rain, but we also need it for the other crops. I'm trusting God for his plan is perfect. I actually got to cut wheat last Friday (for the first time in 16 years) while my father-in-law finished planting milo. Other than the odor in the cab of the combine, it was a really fun day. Maybe someday I'll get to do it again.

Thankfulness

After reading several blogs that talk about being thankful and thankless, I've decided to challenge myself to be the 'ful' vs the 'less'. I want to give God glory in all I think, say or do. I feel like when we are the 'less', we are not giving God any glory. We are in fact not seeing what He blesses us with on a daily basis. The saying goes "Less is more". In this case, less is not more. We take for granted that we'll always have a house to live in. Shoes to wear. Hot water. Clean water. Hot food. Choices. A bed to sleep in. Some of these things have become so expected that we just plain forget to be thankful for them. A blog I follow of Ann Voskamp has 'The Gratitude Community'. Take a moment a read her words. http://www.aholyexperience.com/2006/11/gift-list-thousand-things.html

Matthew 6:21 says "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." A daily challenge for myself would be to have a thankful heart. A thankful heart IS a happy heart and a full heart. I want to find my treasure there. In my thankful heart. God is everywhere. He surrounds us. Take time daily to see Him and what He has given you. Find a piece of paper and just start writing things you see~hear~smell. The sound of children playing happily.....the tune of the birds singing....the scent of a bouquet of flowers....the smell of dirt, that grows....the beauty of a garden. Add to it daily. Take it with you where ever you go and add to it throughout the day. You'll be amazed at what you haven't been seeing. When you find yourself being on the grumpy side, stop and read over your list. It's a simple task with reaping benefits. I resolve to be thankful. How about you.....?
