So, what are the directions you say? Well, it's easy, although different for everyone depending on what street you start out on. Go down to the corner and turn off of Grumpy Avenue (or ItReallyIsAllAboutMe Road) onto IChooseToBeHappy Street. Then travel about two blocks or miles whatever it takes (but don't forget to look for the God blessings along the way) to ItsAllAboutJesus Avenue. Travel for long as you want and then you will eventually travel into TheAttitudeOfGratitude Resort without even knowing you arrived. Remember though, it's a daily drive but the drive doesn't ever get boring. It's all in how you see it. Look for the blessing in the disappointment. It is there. Don't let your expectations of a perfect Christmas suffocate your ability to see CHRISTmas for what it really is. A big birthday celebration of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Christmas tip #1
This time of year can get so crazy. Has anyone else noticed or is it just me? It's so easy to get 'vacuumed' (my kids' new word for sucked) into all the decorations, the gifts and all of that bologna. (my new word for crap). For my end of the year resolution, I'm trying to speak more appropriate in front of my many offspring. (they actually do learn most things from their parents) Oh, and the biggest is to not be late anymore. Ya, right. Anyway back to the tip. My tip (which I tell my kids they can leave on the dining room table for when I clean up after them) is to just take day by day and enjoy it and everything else that God has blessed us with that very day. It's too easy to look ahead and see all the activities that we have to partake in. The goal is to not be stressed (which is desserts backwards ya know) at the end of the day but to be overwhelmed with gratitude. When you are overwhelmed with gratitude, you are supernaturally joyful and have a center core of peace that is ONLY God given. Have you ever been there? It's a place that you chose to be everyday. It's not a place where you can get to one day and stay for days. You have to purposely get in the car and drive there each and every day. That is a difficult task my friends. It's like a kid going to the candy store everyday. Once you've been there you want to oh so bad go back everyday. But it's like the directions to the candy store got lost or scratched from your memory. You have to purposefully seek the directions again to obtain that wonderful feeling of joy and peace.
So, what are the directions you say? Well, it's easy, although different for everyone depending on what street you start out on. Go down to the corner and turn off of Grumpy Avenue (or ItReallyIsAllAboutMe Road) onto IChooseToBeHappy Street. Love that "my" Shackles song was the 1st song playing when I came here. :)
I love how well you explained this choice we have each day. This task we have, to focus on the Here and Now and enjoy EVERY moment to its fullest, not looking forward, not looking back....just here. I think we hear the Lord best when we are "here". Blessing to you and yours today, T
You are so right.
We need to "seize the day". Carpe diem!
If we drag the past with us or are worrying about tomorrow, we miss the joy and the fun that happened today.
Thanks sooo much for the reminder! You are right..it's a very hard thing to do and it is a daily choice. Somedays it's just hard to dig yourself out! Have a wonderful CHRISTmas season with your family!
