The Word

Psalm 119:105  "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path".

I read this verse this morning and light came on for me.   You know the 'ah ha' moment kind.  The kind that I felt God speaking to me.  Like 'hello-do ya get it now?' To me this says...the path is dark and narrow, but here is my light to lead the way.  I say dark for you wouldn't need a light if you were able to see the path.  I also say narrow for Matthew 7:14 says:

But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

To live a life pleasing to God, we have to purposely spend time learning what His Word is.  It is that simple.  Read His Word.  His Word is a light for our paths and a lamp for our feet.  To keep us from stumbling on our path of life.  The wider our paths are, the more crooked of a walk we can have.  Sometimes I feel like I'm walking like a drunk.  One step here then stumble to the right.  Even taking a step back then just standing still to gather my sense of direction.  But, the narrow road leads to life.  There isn't much room for stumbling for there isn't much stumbling taking place. For we have a light leading our way.  That gate is narrow.  I don't think we'll be allowed to climb the fence right beside the gate either.

1 John 1:5-7 "This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you:  God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.  If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another...."

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

So to summarize: God is the word, the word is a light unto our paths and if we are not using that lamp for our feet then we are in darkness on the wide path that does not lead to God.  The simplicity of all of this is reading the Word.   To purposely and intentionally walk in the light and daily gathering that manna to supply all of our needs for the walk on the narrow road.  If it's that simple then why don't we do it?  Life is busy but we still have the choice to crack that bible open and read it.  Find yourself an accountability friend and get yourself in His Word!  It is the only light for the path which you are on.  So, is your path wide or narrow?
